Are Sex Robots In Our Future?

Researchers (and in this case I use the term researchers loosely) from the Victoria Management School, Victoria University of Wellington have predicted that we’ll be sleeping with sex bots in 40 years. The “study” came from a management school, not a psychology or science department. And any prediction of technology that is 40 years out is largely guesswork. You can predict pretty much anything that far out and be lauded for your foresight without being held accountable if your predictions don’t come true.

Electric Car Drivers 'More Thoughtful'

This is a guest post by Robert Taylor.   Researchers at Newcastle University say electric vehicle drivers report feeling less stressed, calmer and more in control of their electric car. In addition, electric vehicles were found to emit less than half of the carbon dioxide produced by conventional combustion engine cars and grid energy is increasingly being generated by greener renewable sources. Walking slowly helps reaching the destination Despite the environmental benefits of electric vehicles however, their take-up remains slow. The government has an incentive package – the plug-in car grant – which gives customers up to £5,000 towards the

Battlefield 3 News: Xbox 360 Update with Rent Your Own Server

A big new update to Battlefield 3 for Xbox 360 has just been released. The news they’re making the most of is that you can rent a server to play on via Xbox. Yes, PS3 has been offering this for a while and it is out for Xbox 360 at last. This means you can rent your own server and create your custom Battlefield 3 gaming space. OK, you could already do this by privately renting a slot on a server if you knew how, but now it’ll just be easier for those of us who don’t know. What Can

I’m only publishing this to get something set up on the blog that requires ownership authorisation via publication of a randomly generated statement. Think of this as an unexpected fortune cookie, if you like: “This chopped board joins with the poke under the concluded fountain.” And there you have it. Moving on: would you like to see the naked ladies or read about food or toddlers instead?

Depressed Scots Told to Talk to their Computer

This is a guest post by Anthony on behalf of Janet Stones Counselling.  In a confrontational move, thousands of people suffering from anxiety and depression are being moved from the therapy couch and placed in front of their own keyboards. After facing cuts in the NHS budget and high levels of stress and depression in the population, Ministers in Scotland are considering different ways to reduce the amount of scheduled appointment times. In order to reduce NHS expenditure and waiting times, patients who visit their GP with moderate symptoms may be referred to a new website. The online service will

Well, that was painless. I got an email when Hew started moving stuff over, another when he was done, and Lo! it’s all here. My theme is still here, in its free-for-WP.org version, my sidebar and footer widgets are still basically the same, and they’ve added some plugins to replicate some of the features of WordPress.com that I was used to. Visitors probably don’t notice the minor differences on the site from yesterday to today. Slick! I’m sure I could have done it myself, but by the time I’d looked up how to do everything found and installed the right

Being Lazy: WordPress.com Guided Transfer to WordPress.org

I just bought a “Guided Transfer” service from WordPress.com to move all the stuff on this site to, essentially, another site that looks roughly the same and has the same web address but is delivered to your screen from a web host that I pay, rather than from WordPress.com. If that meant nothing to you and your eyes have glazed over, feel free to wander off. There are some naked girlie photos here, or a few recipes. Anyway, what it means is that if you come back in a couple of weeks’ time, this blog may look slightly different. No

Not that we have it yet, you understand. It only came out on the 1st of February, and in America, but I’m looking forward to the day I can edit blogs and sort out spreadsheets just by talking and waving my hands in the air. Check out the basic info on the Microsoft  Kinect for Windows website, if you’re curious.
